Dear Readers,
Something big shifted this week. OpenAI just turned ChatGPT into a platform - not just a product. With apps now running inside ChatGPT and a no-code Agent Builder for creating full AI workflows, the line between “using AI” and “building with AI” is fading fast. Developers suddenly have a new playground, and for the first time, anyone can assemble their own intelligent system without touching code. The question isn’t what AI can do anymore - it’s what you’ll make it do.
Today’s issue unpacks this turning point. From OpenAI’s hardware struggles with Jony Ive and Elon Musk’s plans for an AI-generated game, to the ECB deploying AI to protect the digital euro — it’s a snapshot of how intelligence is embedding itself everywhere: in tools, money, and art alike. Dive in, and see what happens when software learns to build itself.
In Today’s Issue:
📱 Apps can now run inside ChatGPT, transforming it into a modular platform with a new Agent Builder
🧑🎓 A Stanford study finds AI disproportionately impacting young workers
🎮 EA's new owners plan to heavily integrate AI to cut costs
💶 The ECB has chosen an AI startup to build a fraud-detection system
✨ And more AI goodness…
All the best,

OpenAI Faces Hurdles On AI Device
OpenAI and former Apple design chief Jony Ive are struggling with technical and compute challenges as they develop a screenless, palm-sized AI assistant set to launch next year. The device, designed to act as a constant, conversational “AI friend,” faces delays over software, privacy, and infrastructure hurdles - including defining its personality and managing compute costs. Despite these issues, OpenAI’s $500 billion valuation underscores its ambition to make hardware a new frontier beyond ChatGPT.

XAI Plans AI-Generated Game
Elon Musk’s xAI studio announced it will launch a fully AI-generated game before the end of next year. The project aims to showcase xAI’s models’ creative and reasoning capabilities, positioning them as competitors to OpenAI and Anthropic. If successful, it could mark a major step toward generative agents capable of building immersive, autonomous virtual worlds.

OpenAI Acquires Finance Startup Roi
OpenAI has acquired Roi, a fintech startup focused on personalized investing experiences. Founded three years ago to democratize finance, Roi’s team realized their personalization technology had broader applications across software. The acquisition signals OpenAI’s growing interest in adaptive, user-tailored systems that could enhance future AI products beyond finance.

We’re working to build as much compute as we can, as quickly as we can, over the next few years.
We believe that the world continues to underestimate AI demand: we’re already compute bottlenecked on launching new features, and exponential progress of model capability continues.

OpenAI: Live from DevDay — the OpenAI Podcast Ep. 7

The Takeaway
👉 You can now embed apps inside ChatGPT — enabling seamless tool usage without leaving chat contexts.
👉 OpenAI launched a preview SDK and will build an app directory and monetization guidance.
👉 Agent Builder gives a visual, no-code way to orchestrate AI workflows combining multiple tools.
👉 This setup shifts the envelope: future AI products may live within agents rather than outside them.
A single line of code just changed how we imagine AI: at DevDay 2025, OpenAI revealed that apps can now run inside ChatGPT, turning it into a modular “shell” for tools - not just a chatbot, Agent Builder and so much more.

Here’s what’s new:
- Developers can build mini-apps (Booking.com, Canva, Spotify, Zillow and more) that users interact with within ChatGPT, without switching contexts.
- OpenAI released a preview SDK immediately, with plans for an app directory and monetization paths coming later.
- And also Agent Builder, a visual drag-and-drop canvas for orchestrating AI workflows (e.g. combining tools, branching logic, user approval steps).
Why this matters to the AI community: this is less evolution and more platform shift. Instead of seeing ChatGPT as a black box you call, it becomes a container for composable apps you plug into. It opens a new frontier for developer creativity, integration, and marketplace dynamics.
This transforms ChatGPT from endpoint to platform, enabling deeper integrations and new business models.
It empowers developers to create richer experiences inside conversational interfaces, pushing the frontier of AI product design.

Stanford Reveals AI’s Job Divide
A major Stanford study finds that AI automation is disproportionately hurting young workers aged 22–25 in high-exposure fields like software engineering, marketing, and customer service, with employment down 16% since late 2022. Meanwhile, older workers and those in hands-on roles such as healthcare or maintenance have seen job stability or growth. The report suggests AI’s impact depends on whether it augments or automates labor - reinforcing that using AI to assist, not replace, workers may yield more equitable prosperity.

EA’s New Owners Eye AI
EA has been acquired by PIF, Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners for $55 billion, with CEO Andrew Wilson staying on. According to the Financial Times, the new owners plan to integrate AI heavily to “significantly cut operating costs” and manage debt - potentially replacing parts of the workforce, from developers to voice actors. The move follows growing labor unrest in gaming, including the recent creation of the United Videogame Workers Union amid widespread layoffs and AI-related fears.

ECB Selects AI To Secure Digital Euro
The European Central Bank has contracted Portuguese AI startup Feedzai to build a fraud-detection system for its upcoming digital euro, with a deal worth up to €237.3 million over four years. This move signals that central banks are increasingly turning to AI to safeguard next-gen digital currencies and reduce reliance on traditional financial infrastructure.
