Dear Readers,

What a day! Grok 4 and xAI have proven that although they were the last to enter the race for AGI, they have now catapulted themselves to the top!

The evals of Grok 4 are breathtaking, it's unbelievable what the engineers have achieved. Today we have taken a huge step closer to superintelligence.

Everything about Grok 4 in today's newsletter.

All the best,

Grok 4 release exceeds all expectations: super intelligence within reach!

The TLDR
Elon Musk introduced xAI's Grok 4, claiming it's "better than most PhDs" and a major step towards AGI. To back this up, xAI unveiled a new, difficult benchmark called "Humanity's Last Exam," where Grok 4 scored significantly higher than its top competitors. This new level of performance, powered by the massive "Colossus" supercomputer, escalates the global debate around the capabilities and responsible development of superintelligent AI.

On July 9, 2025, Elon Musk's xAI unveiled Grok 4, claiming it is "the world's most powerful AI assistant." Powered by the "Colossus" supercomputer, Grok 4 significantly outperformed competitors like Gemini 2.5 Pro on a new, difficult benchmark called "Humanity's Last Exam" (HLE), which is designed to test for AGI-level reasoning. This launch is being positioned as a major leap forward in the race for artificial general intelligence, raising new questions about AI safety and societal control.

Under the hood is Colossus, xAI's supercomputer with 200,000 H100 GPUs, combined with tools for code, search, and visualization. In addition to text, Grok 4 will also be able to interpret images, videos, and even memes in the future – a distinctly multimodal approach.

In the demanding Humanity's Last Exam (HLE), the benchmark for human-like thinking, it clearly outperformed all its competitors. While models such as Gemini 2.5 Pro and o3 remain in the 21–27% range, Grok 4 achieves an impressive 38.6% – and the heavy version breaks all previous boundaries with 44.4%. Grok 4 is thus approaching a level of performance that was previously only conceivable in AGI visions.

Why it matters: Grok 4 marks a quantum leap toward AGI and raises fundamental questions about AI safety, ethics, and societal control. This is crucial for the community—now is the time to decide how human, transparent, and safe this new AI era will be.

OpenAI Reportedly Releasing AI Browser

According to a new report, OpenAI plans to launch its own AI-powered web browser in the coming weeks to directly challenge Google Chrome, using an integrated AI agent to fundamentally rethink the user's web experience.

Graph of the Day

Grok 4 achieves an incredible 44.9% on Humanitys last exam.

HLE was designed as a benchmark that is so difficult that it was developed as the ultimate benchmark in human history.

A Reset on the Cellular Aging Clock

A Tufts University research team shows that adult cells can be rejuvenated by self-assembling into spherical multicellular “anthrobots” - without any genetic manipulation. This experimental approach, published on June 17, 2025, demonstrates a significant resetting of cellular age. What is new is that simple structural environmental conditions can trigger age regression. Relevance: potentially groundbreaking for regenerative medicine and anti-ageing therapies beyond genetic interventions.

Senolytic compounds reduce epigenetic age of blood samples in vitro

Researchers at RWTH Aachen University have shown that senolytic agents such as JQ1 and nutlin-3a can significantly reduce the epigenetic age of human blood samples. These substances specifically remove senescent cells that promote ageing processes and chronic inflammation. The approach offers a promising way to not only extend the health span, but to actively reverse ageing - a milestone for future anti-ageing therapies.

A newly discovered mechanism rejuvenates aging cells

A team from Osaka University has identified the protein AP2A1 as a central regulator of cell senescence. If AP2A1 is blocked in old cells, they return to youthful functions; overexpression, on the other hand, accelerates the ageing process. This discovery opens up the possibility of developing targeted drugs that could stop or reverse ageing processes at the cellular level - a significant advance in molecular geriatric medicine.
