can you do this?

because most people are not great at it

Hi Friend,

The other day, Rahul almost sent a client this message:

"You got $5M in funding recently, and you launched a new product as well. Our tool will be ideal for you."

His heart was in the right place, but the tone? Not great. It came off a bit… intrusive.

I tweaked it to something more like this:

"Congrats on the funding round! I’m really impressed by how quickly you built that new product. Would love to hop on a call to demo a new feature that could boost your product’s sales by X times."

Big difference, right? It feels more personal, less pushy. And honestly, it’s got a much better shot at starting a conversation because:

  • It’s not overly salesy.

  • It’s specific.

  • It sounds human.

Rahul’s message was authentic, sure. But being authentic doesn’t always work in sales unless you pair it with a little tact. Funny enough, an AI-generated response might’ve even done better in this case.

Does that mean Rahul should just let ChatGPT take over? Nope.

AI has its limits. It lacks context, connection, and the ability to genuinely know your client. A human, on the other hand, can build relationships—when trained the right way.

Train your team to be human first—to form genuine relationships. Then let AI be the assist, not the star.

Because most people are not great at sales because of the money involved. But a good salesperson sets the money aside for a second to build the relationship.

1. Let AI Support—Not Speak for You

AI can help with emails, outreach ideas, and even research. But lean on it too much, and everything starts sounding the same.

For example, you get an email like this…

"Hi [Name], Based on your browsing history, I think our product could be a perfect fit for your needs. Let me know if you’d like a demo."

Technically fine, right? But it screams machine. No personality, no thought, no connection.

Here’s a better take:

"Hi [Name], I noticed you were checking out our pricing page. I’d love to know what you’re looking for—can I help answer any questions?"

It’s still powered by AI (hello, browsing data!), but the tone feels human. That’s the sweet spot.

2. Use AI in the Background

Imagine you’re on a sales call, and your AI tool feeds you real-time insights:

⦁ They raised $5M in funding.
⦁ They just launched a new product.
⦁ They’re eyeing a competitor.

You don’t say, “Our AI flagged that your company is growing fast!” Instead, you weave it in naturally:

"Congrats on the funding—exciting times! How’s the new product launch going?"

Now you sound prepared, thoughtful, and sharp. AI gets the assist; you get the credit.

3. Stay Creative—AI Can’t Do That

AI can crunch data and suggest ideas. But creativity? That’s all you.

If you rely too much on AI templates, your pitches will blend into the noise. Instead:

  • Let AI spark ideas, then rewrite them in your own voice.

  • Use AI insights to craft personalized emails, but add a creative twist—a personal anecdote or a clever analogy.

  • Experiment. Short emails, long ones, visuals—find what works for your style.

AI gets you started, but your creativity closes the deal.
